CURLING ROCKS

We are being given to the opportunity to have a "Curling Rocks" column in The Bradford Times every week, this was done with much success last year and is a great way to promote the game of curling and the Bradford Curling Club. In order to have some control over the submissions every week, to make sure several are not sent directly to the paper at once,  just send you short 200 word article to me and I will submit it to the paper. webmaster@bradfordfordcurlingclub.ca . Articles must be sent to me by Monday night.

In an effort to get information out to all curlers the curling club is putting together an email list which Russ Gale and the Webmaster will use to forward pertinent club news. This list will remain confidential and will be used only to promote curling club information. If you have not been receiving emails from one of these two sources and would like to, send your email address to webmaster@bradfordcurlingclub.ca , conversely if you have been receiving emails and would like to be taken off the list send an email to the same address stating so.

  Practice Ice or Game Changes

To avoid conflict, any practice ice or rescheduled games need to be booked, in advance, with Marie Pearson-Cook. This includes ice times designated for practices or open sheets during league play.

On the bottom left hand side of this page, below Our Sponsors, we will show each week the ice times available for practice times. The number in brackets beside the date is the number of sheets available. If you want to use one of these times and sheets please contact Marie Pearson-Cook at marie.pearson@sympatico.ca . Times will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

***RULE CHANGES 2010-2012***

There have been many rule changes which take effect with the 2010 curling season. I have printed off these rule changes as they apply to the General Rules of Curling. Those shown in red are the ones which would pertain most to our league play, I would suggest they be read as there are some rules which apply to nightly situations. The Rules For Officiated play are a bit different but really do not apply in many situations because we have our own  rules for different leagues but if you would like to see these go to this website http://www.curling.ca/start-curling/rules-of-curling-for-general-play/ and they are at the bottom of the page.

SOFT START

Beginning on Monday Dec. 13 the club is adopting a 6:45 "Soft" start, the ice will be ready at that time and if both teams are ready to go then they can start play. This will both enable teams to get in the full 8 ends and hopefully get the late game started by 9:00.

The Tuesday Men curlers want to increase the number of men who are coming out to enjoy an afternoon of curling. This curling is not only for senior aged curlers but is open to all who are able to get away on a Tuesday afternoon. There is no commitment, if you cannot make it one week you are not letting your team down as teams are made up by a tag draw each week.
